Topographic maps depict the terrain using generally large-scale detail and representations of relief features in the area shown. These reliefs are usually shown using contour lines as can be seen with the different lines of color characterization. These maps can be very helpful in depicting how high mountains are or how shallow the ocean bottom is. By using this type of mapping explorers could possible find out where the mythical city of Atlantis may be located.
In the map above, it depicts the Atlantic Ocean and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where new seafloor is constantly being produced. This map claims that the lost city of Atlantis may lie somewhere on this ridge in the more Northern region off the coast of Portugal and Spain. By using these types of maps fisherman and other oceanic explorers may be able to locate beneficial fishing grounds and possibly lost cities.
